This is my half of a trade with :iconfydbac: , featuring her character Tokeil, the pirate god of time. The title is a bit lame if you think of it literally, like nap time, but it's intended to refer more to her character. I don't know anything about this character besides his looks, name and the dubious title of pirate god of time, nor the world that he is occupying. So I had to invent some mumbo-jumbo to add some magic into it.

I don't have her savvy way with action poses and I though it was better not to embarrass myself trying, so I went for something that made a point of being stationary. I got the image in my head of a cramped little room stuffed with clocks and knickknacks and this boy snoozing away.

This is the most detailed work I've ever done (over 200 layers :O_o: ) , but it still doesn't have that crowded look I wanted. and I've run out of steam to work on it any further for now. I might return to it in the future though.

I put a lot of effort into it partly because I wanted to show off ;) and because this character was part of her thesis where the originals were lost to theft. But also because it's about bloody time I outdo my old Defender deviation.

On reflection though, this one, despite being technically better, lacks dragons, boobs, pretty people and just about any other subject that generally attracts people, and will probably end up in the shade along with everything else I've done since august last year :worry:

I have to like it because I've spent such a long time on it and it'd be a crying shame if I didn't, but as it's progressed I am aware of some of it glaring faults.

The perspective is off, and gets worse if you imagine what would happen if the boy woke and stood up. His hands were a lost cause, and I left out some of this characters rather nifty design. His sleeping face lacks a lot of the charm he was supposed to have. The glowing clockworks didn't look as impressive as I wanted them either. The shading on the boy is also sloppy at times. The composition also looks weird to me.

Critique is still welcomed though :D

I have to say, I really love the perspective, even if it may be off. It's very dynamic and dangerous looking and contrasts nicely with the fact that the character is sleeping. Great picture! :)
