The Red In Purple

In my endeavor to get my finger out I've been working on keeping productivity up. I spend far too much time mulling and procrastinating on individual pieces.

All the other projects I have going on now is either big and complicated or contains stuff I haven't done before and must expect a lot of trial and error. So I wanted to do something quick and easy. It grew a bit out of that category though, but I've put my foot down not to overwork it. I took a short cut and used a photo of myself for the face outline, but the result looks little like me

I came across a contest (for details see [link] ) where you had to use only two colours. I went for Red and purple. but as I've mixed it quite a bit and used shades of red that are closer to pink and purple so pale it's more like lilac, I don't know if it'll be accepted.

The title comes from the knowledge that to get purple you mix red and blue. And when I pinned on the medals I came to think of The Purple Heart which is given for injury or death in combat, and the blood spilled. The red in purple.

I originally intended to have a big bouquet on her shoulder, but when I drew in the flowers I could feel the spirit and interest in the image being mysteriously sucked out, so they had to go. The medals probably popped into my mind when I was watching Allo Allo
